In most people’s lifetime they may have kids, move, start a new job, buy a house and maybe even sell one too. I chose to do all of this at once. Did I say get married? Well we’re also planning a wedding. Sometimes, life throws a curve ball, and sometimes it throws the kitchen sink.
Backtracking a little, I wanted this. I’m at the next level of my career where I can control my own destiny, and I worked my butt off to get here. So here’s how it came to be…..
In 2011, I changed careers and went from hotelier to the insurance business. There was something about being your own boss, making great money and controlling your own calendar that spoke to me. I had a degree in hotel management and an amazing ten year ride that included lots of awards, travel and John Travolta. Then, Farmers Insurance came calling, and I answered. I started out on the ground floor, recruiting new agents for an opportunity that would change their lives and mine. Luck would have it that I would find a mentor in business who showed me the ropes and promised a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow if I was willing to do the work.
Fast forward five years, and just after the birth of my twin babies, Austen and Jett (I also have a 7 year old named Zaiden) came the call to interview for the game changer. Then came the offer, and then came……three months of waiting. First I had it, then I didn’t, then I had it again. After about fourteen rounds of this kind of back and forth, I told my fiancé Audrey (the wedding) that if it was meant to be, it would be. Well it was.
Being a District Manager (the new job) with Farmers isn’t a job, it’s a calling. I call it the life changer. I respect and admire the position and those in it, and am honored to be have earned the right to be a DM. Even more so, a DM in my home state of New Mexico. To be able to come home from Colorado (the move/home purchase/sale) and work with an amazing group of agents has proven to be everything I’ve expected and then some.
